Our story
Soofos began with a gap that study friends Anton and Joris experienced themselves: theory was easy to find, but practical, up-to-date skills were not.
While studying and working, Anton and Joris saw two poor options: courses costing thousands of euros or hours of disconnected videos. They decided to build a place where people could learn useful skills from one another and share what they know.
2015
2015 became the year Soofos started. Quotes for a custom platform ran into hundreds of thousands of euros, so Anton and Joris chose to build it themselves without outside funding. The first version took shape during evenings on the fourth-floor attic of an Amsterdam flat.
After two years full-time
After two years working on Soofos full-time, the team had grown to around four people and was ready for an adventure beyond Amsterdam. Screens and suitcases went into a Fiat Panda, and the company went on the road.
Three months later
Three months on, the freedom to work from anywhere felt right. Soofos was rebuilt as a remote company so the team could keep improving the platform without being tied to one place.
The next chapter
Remote work did not mean working alone. The team set aside at least two months each year to meet in person, learn from one another and find new inspiration. Soofos also chose a four-day, 32-hour working week, including half a day for personal development.
The idea that started in the attic still guides the journey: make learning from each other genuinely accessible, so people can keep growing for themselves, their work and their future.
